How To Use Burst Floss To Reduce Cavities

Burst Floss Helps Reduce Cavities

You’re probably the type of person that will never skip a day of brushing your teeth or your children’s teeth, but how often are you flossing? If we are being honest, I’m pretty sure that’s an area you could improve in. Today, I’d like to share why flossing is so important and how my new favorite floss, Burst Floss, is even better than the stuff you’ve been grabbing when you are getting your groceries.

Before we get into the details of Burst floss, and why it’s so amazing, we have to talk about why you should be flossing every day.

Why Do I Need To Floss?

First, I’m going to say something that might sound a little controversial to some. I believe that getting between the teeth and deep into the gum tissue is even more important than brushing. I’ll explain why below.

Did you know that who you kiss can contribute to the health of your mouth? It’s true. The oral health of your kissing partner can actually affect the saliva and ph balance in your own mouth depending on how often you’re kissing this person. Crazy huh? It can even lead to cavities.

Picture this scenario, you go out and have a delicious dinner with friends, then spend hours having a great conversation. Imagine that you get home after, and you start to get ready for bed. You look in the mirror, only to realize with horror that you have a giant green piece of salad stuck between your front teeth. You went all night without even noticing. We’ve probably all been there at one time or another. Now that was just one night, and an obvious piece of food in your front teeth. I’m sure you can imagine all of the other bits of food that get stuck between your teeth that you don’t even notice every day. It doesn’t matter if you brush your teeth after every meal, if you don’t get those in-between spaces clean, it doesn’t do much good. Eventually, it can lead to build-up of biofilm, cavities, and gum issues.

When Do I Floss?

You might not realize it, but the best time to floss is at night before you brush. It’s actually more difficult for floss to remove plaque and debris if you brush first. This helps remove the food debris first, and you can actually remove more biofilm this way. This seems like such a simple tip, but trust me if you do this consistently, it will go a long way to improving your dental health.

What’s So Awesome About Burst Floss?

I know you probably think all floss is the same, but let me tell you why I love Burst floss. This specific floss is made in a woven pattern and is a polyester material. This makes it do three things really well:

  1. It helps absorb acidic solutions between your teeth and deep in your gums, and controls pH because the floss is made of a spongy material. It’s important to control pH and make your mouth as neutral as possible to reduce biofilm.

  2. It expands between your teeth to reach biofilm within small irregular spaces between your teeth, which helps prevent flossing cavities. Between your teeth is where biofilm typically loves to hide.

  3. It flattens to increase its surface area to better grip and dislodge biofilm colonies.

It also has microcrystalline wax for a smoother floss, so it glides easily. Burst Floss is coated with charcoal for better grip and removal of the plaque. Charcoal also has antimicrobial activity that helps disinfect and reduce the amount of biofilm from growing back.

And if that wasn’t enough, Burst floss is also coated with xylitol. I love xylitol for its ability to stop the adherence of biofilm to the teeth and pH control.

Now do you see why I love this floss so much?

I hope you learned something new today about flossing and specifically what makes Burst floss so unique and beneficial. Maybe you will now, finally, start building a consistent flossing habit. If reading this has convinced you that you need to floss more, let me know below.
